ABSTRACT: We conducted the assessment from December 11 to 16, 2018, between Punta Corio and Mollendo in the province of Islay. A higher concentration was observed in sectors 1, 2, and 4; higher density in Las Cuevas and Cardones (Sector 1), El Chalan, Sombrero Grande, and Sombrero Chico (Sector 4). The mean density varied between 0.30 and 5.99 Spec./m2 . The effective range was calculated at 2’273,015 m2 , abundance was estimated at 6’894,376 specimens, and biomass at 45.90 t. A total of 1864 specimens were biometrically analyzed, the size varied between 6 and 83 mm VL, the main mode was 17 mm and a secondary one of 38 mm, the mean length was 35.77 mm. A total of 97% was below the Minimum Catch Size (MCS = 70 mm). Mean beach profiles had a gentle slope ranging from 1.07° to 1.53°, which were classified as a dissipative beach (Ω 7.64 - 11.93). Sand samples mostly composed of very fine sand (49.04%) and fine sand (38.98), the mean grain size ranged from 0.094 to 0.169 mm. SST ranged from 17.8 to 21.2 °C, mean at 19.4 °C, SSS varied between 34.81 and 34.94 PSU, and DO between 5.03 and 6.30 mL/L. When analyzing the plankton, we observed D and umbonate larvae. |
