T: In 2014, samples of the benthic intertidal community were collected on the beaches of Santa Rosa (18°20’S), Pueblo Libre (18°18’S), Rancho Chico (18°14’S) and Llostay (18°11’S), to characterize the community structure, determining its variability and establishing relationships with the morphodynamical characteristics of the beach. Transects, were sampled at 10 m intervals using a metal sampler (18 cm x 50 cm). Morphodynamics and granulometry were characterized by Dean’s parameter. The area presented intermediate and dissipative type exposed beaches, with a predominance of fine to medium graded sand and seasonal variations that influenced the zoning and abundance of organisms. Annelida and Arthropoda were the dominant groups in abundance and species richness. Excirolana braziliensis, Emerita analoga, and Hemipodia simplex dominated the drying, saturation and retention zones, respectively. On a spatial and temporal scale, species richness was similar on the four beaches. nMDS revealed the formation of two groups in the structuring of communities defined by seasonal variations. Significant correlations were recorded between richness and intertidal width (R2: 0.3333) and beach slope with abundance (R2: 0.7017) and biomass (R2: 0.4204).-
