Planteamientos sobre necesidades científicas y técnicas, con énfasis en organismos bentónicos y planctónicos del mar peruano

Abstract

Identificamos y describimos brevemente algunas necesidades científicas (especialmente, para el bentos y el plancton del mar peruano) y técnicas (para ordenar, sistematizar, compartir y difundir información científica) que consideramos importantes atender en el corto y mediano plazo con la finalidad de mejorar el alcance de nuestros estudios y productos. En el marco de algunas preguntas científicas clave, planteamos un enfoque (incluyendo bentos y plancton, sin dejar de lado el escenario de variabilidad climática) que se divide en tres líneas principales: (I) Diversidad funcional e interacciones, (II) Ecología trófica y (III) Conectividad, dispersión larval y reclutamiento. Centramos nuestro planteamiento de necesidades técnicas, especialmente en el ordenamiento y sistematización de los datos e información, con el objetivo de atender temas como: (i) Confiabilidad de los datos, (ii) Dificultad para comparar datos, (iii) Eficiencia de análisis, (iv) Potencial pérdida de datos e información y (v) Limitada secuencia lógica en la investigación y sus productos.

ABSTRACT: We identify and briefly describe some scientific (especially, for benthos and marine plankton from the Peruvian sea) and technical (organization, systematization and dissemination of scientific information) knowledge needs that we consider important to carry out in the short and medium term, in order to improve the scope of our studies and products. Our general approach (including benthos and plankton, regarding the climate variability) is divided into three main lines: (I) Functional diversity and ecological interactions, (II) Feeding ecology, (III) Connectivity, larval dispersion and recruitment. Focusing on data and information management, we analyzed the technical needs aiming to resolve key points such as (i) Data reliability, (ii) The data contrasting problem, (iii) Limited efficiency of data analysis, (iv) Potential loss of data and information, and (v) Absence of a logical sequence between researching and its products.
