Situación del stock de la merluza peruana (Merluccius gayi peruanus) en el otoño 2015

Abstract

Esta publicación corresponde a la evaluación de la merluza peruana mediante el método de área barrida en el marco de la ejecución del “Crucero de Evaluación de merluza y otros demersales en el otoño 2015”realizado entre el 01 de junio al 04 de julio 2015, en el área marina comprendida entre Puerto Pizarro (3°30’S) y Huarmey (10°00’S) en una extensión total de 14.482.91 mn2. La biomasa total estimada de merluza fue de 294.744 toneladas (coeficiente de variación del 26%) conformada por 1.516 millones de individuos, que a su vez son principalmente ejemplares del grupo de edad 2 (40%) y 3 (29%), poca presencia de individuos de 1 año (menos del 7%) y merluzas de cuatro o más años del 23%. La biomasa reproductora representó alrededor del 89% de la biomasa total. Las condiciones ambientales del otoño del 2015, provocaron la profundización del recurso en varias zonas de la distribución (06°30’S y 08°00’S) a profundidades mayores de 250 brazas, por lo cual parte del stock no pudo ser debidamente evaluado, particularmente el grupo de edad 3, el que no se encontró muy disponible, lo que hizo concluir que existe una subestimación de la abundancia de este grupo de edad.

ABSTRAC: The present article corresponds to Peruvian hake stock assessment based on swept area method. It was carried out in the framework of “Peruvian hake and other demersals assessment survey” realized during the autumn 2015. The whole area evaluated ranged from Puerto Pizarro (3°30´S) to Huarmey (10°00´S) with 14 482.91 mn2 of extension. The Peruvian hake biomass estimated was 294,744 tons, shaped for 1.516 million individuals. The main age groups found belonged to fishes of 2 years old (40%) and 3 years old (29%). For the other side, a smaller number of individuals were observed for age 1 (< 7%) and 4+ groups (23%). In this sense, the reproductive biomass reached to about 89% total biomass. The environmental conditions during the study period caused a deepening of the resource (> 250 fathoms) in several distribution zones (06°30'S and 08°00'S). It´s a reason why a part of the stock could not be correctly evaluated. Specifically, age group 3 fish was not found so available, therefore it believes that there is an underestimation of the abundance of this age group.
