Hipótesis causales sobre la intensificación del viento sobre el mar peruano durante eventos El Niño

Abstract

Durante los eventos El Niño, en contraste con el debilitamiento de la circulación atmosférica de gran escala, los vientos frente a la costa peruana se intensifican. En el presente trabajo se realiza una revisión de las hipótesis que intentan explicar la intensificación del viento durante un evento El Niño, procurando señalar los alcances, limitaciones e interrogantes que surgen con respecto a este proceso basados en resultados de estudios recientes.

ABSTRACT: During the El Niño events, in contrast to the weakening of the large-scale atmospheric circulation, the winds off the coast of Peru intensified. In the present work, a revision of the hypotheses that try to explain the wind intensification during an El Niño event is made, trying to point out the scope, limitations and questions that arise with respect to this process, based on results of recent studies.
