| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT: The study on the physical and chemical aspects in the islands Ballestas and Chincha, were carried out between the 15 and 25 of March 2015. The anomalous oceanographic conditions were due to the weakening of the superficial winds, the strong discharge of the Pisco River and the approach of Subtropical Waters. On the surface of the sea the temperature fluctuated between 19.6 °C (E-16a) and 26.2 °C (E-B2), salinity was between 32.96 psu (E-B2) and 34.896 psu (E-11 ) and oxygen from 3.6 mL/L (E-21) to 8.44 mL/L (E-11). The presence of nutrients was characterized by the formation of nuclei of high and low concentrations throughout the study area. Phytoplankton biomass to the south of the Chincha islands was poor (<1 μ/L), increasing to the north where the maximum concentration of 3 μg/L was associated with high oxygen and pH contents. In the water column the salinity presented concentrations between 35.0 and 35.1 psu, moderately elevated values for the area and depth. The chemical variables were affected in the 0-20 m layer by the influence of the Pisco River (water mixtures), below 20 m the distribution presented values within the established ranges. | - |
