| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT: The sea cucumber fishery in Peru is a relatively recent activity, dates from the nineties, starting with export demand; the fishery is focused on two species of sea cucumber Athyonidium chilensis (Semper, 1868) and Patallus mollis (Selenka, 1868). The statistics show landing cucumber intermittency landings, with major peaks in some years and others without extraction activity. Conservation and management of this resource are important because in addition to complying ecological roles in the marine ecosystem are a source of income for coastal communities. To determine the status of their populations and extractive management, it is necessary to monitor their biological and population indicators. Guidelines for biological data collection, sampling and number of samples are developed. | |
